East Auckland, the Regal High housing estate. The lives of Chiara and her brother Marcus are anything but royal: they struggle to make ends meet. Both have dropped out of school, their father is dead, and their mother is in prison. While Marcus clings to his dream of becoming a rap star, Chiara is looking for a job to pay the rent and feed the boy from the neighbourhood who has been abandoned. She searches and one night finds it... drunk due to a misunderstanding with a stranger. From now on, her life lies between the street and the gutter. And when Chiara falls into the hands of the cops, it becomes even more unbearable. The girl becomes a key witness in a large-scale scandal in the Oakland Police Department.
